President Tiani visits Burkina Faso to strengthen Sahel Alliance ties

The President of the Republic of Niger, General Abdourahamane Tiani, undertook a friendship and working visit to Burkina Faso on Tuesday, 30th September. Arriving in Ouagadougou in the morning, he was accompanied by a delegation that notably included General Salifou Mody and Mr. Salim Mahamadou Gado.
Upon disembarking from his plane, the Nigerien head of state was warmly welcomed by his Burkinabe counterpart, the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
Following a brief protocol ceremony and an exchange between the delegations at the airport, the two leaders met for a one-on-one discussion.
This bilateral meeting takes place in a context marked by the consolidation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), which brings together Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali around common objectives of security and development.
The discussions were expected to focus on strengthening strategic cooperation between Ouagadougou and Niamey, particularly in the fight against terrorism, cross-border security, and the implementation of major development projects for the benefit of their populations.
This visit illustrates the shared will of the two countries to consolidate their bonds of friendship and solidarity, while affirming a common vision for a sovereign, stable, and prosperous Sahel.
