Burkina Faso: Mahamadou Sana, for enhanced security at the service of citizens

Under the leadership of Divisional Commissioner Mahamadou Sana, the Ministry of Security of Burkina Faso has achieved significant progress. Upon his appointment, the minister launched a comprehensive reorganization of security services to better address citizens’ needs. He strengthened coordination between the police, gendarmerie, and other security forces while implementing modern mechanisms to combat insecurity.

Key reforms included streamlining roadside checks, combating abuses and harassment, and improving trust between security forces and the population.

Minister Sana also introduced performance-based objectives for security personnel and redefined operational zones between police and gendarmerie units for greater efficiency.

In addressing terrorist threats, Mahamadou Sana adopted an approach centered on community engagement, intelligence gathering, and cooperation with local populations.

Specialized units were deployed to high-risk areas, and partnerships were established with communities to facilitate information sharing and prevent attacks. This strategy has significantly reduced security incidents in several regions.

Under the guidance of Head of State Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the Ministry has also invested in continuous agent training, equipment upgrades, and infrastructure modernization.

Police stations have been renovated, new vehicles and communication equipment acquired, and management software introduced to improve operational monitoring.

These efforts enabled the Ministry to achieve a 92% implementation rate of its programs in 2024 and continue its work toward strengthening national peace and security.

Minister Mahamadou Sana has instilled a new dynamic, placing security at the heart of national priorities under Captain Traoré’s leadership. Through his expertise, the Ministry of Security is now recognized as a pillar of stability and peace, serving all citizens.
