AES– Russia: A sovereign cooperation for the refoundation of the Sahel
At a time when the peoples of the Sahel have chosen to rise up and write their own destiny, the AES Confederation is consolidating its strategic partnerships with lucidity and determination. The recent meeting in New York between the AES foreign ministers and their Russian counterpart is part of this dynamic of breaking with neocolonial patterns and building a future based on sovereignty, security, and development.
This strengthened political dialogue with Russia, following a first meeting in Moscow last April, goes beyond mere diplomacy.
It symbolizes the firm will of the leaders of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger to build a cooperation based on mutual respect and reciprocal interests.
In a reconfiguring multipolar world, the AES is thus asserting its voice not as a submissive entity, but as a free, dignified, and determined force, committed to rebuilding the Sahel according to its own norms.
On the ground, the progress is tangible. In the realm of security, Russia is already supporting the enhancement of the AES states’ military capabilities through technical and operational assistance.
This collaboration is strengthening the unified AES Force, a major tool for liberating our territories from the terrorist yoke and restoring state authority where it had been weakened. Sovereignty is not decreed; it is defended and the AES is now acquiring the means to do so.
Russia, far from political conditionalities, offers an approach that respects state sovereignty, thus providing a credible alternative for the endogenous development of the Sahel.
This cooperation carries a powerful symbolic charge for a world where African nations are reclaiming control of their destiny, redefining their alliances according to their own interests, not external agendas.
The AES Confederation, a spearhead of this new Pan-African era, is showing the way towards an Africa that is standing tall, proud, and sovereign.
The refoundation of the Sahel is underway. It is built on clear choices, bold alliances, and an unshakeable political will. The AES-Russia partnership is its living expression.
