DR Congo and Rwanda review Progress on US-brokered peace deal

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda held their second follow-up meeting to assess the implementation of the peace agreement signed on June 27 in Washington.
In a joint statement, the committee acknowledged delays in fulfilling certain provisions of the accord but reaffirmed their commitment to overcoming obstacles and continuing the peace process.
The Washington Agreement specifically calls for a cessation of hostilities between Congolese and Rwandan forces, as well as the establishment of dialogue and cooperation mechanisms to restore stability in the conflict-affected eastern DRC.
Discussions also focused on building mutual trust, facilitating cross-border movement, and developing joint projects in security, economic, and social sectors.
The meeting sent a strong signal to the international community that both nations remain dedicated to peace and regional stability, despite ongoing challenges.
