Newcastle moves quickly, signs Yoane Wissa to replace Alexander Isak

Just hours after finalizing the British record £150 million sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool, Newcastle United have acted swiftly to secure a replacement. The Magpies have agreed to a €63 million deal with Brentford for DR Congo international forward Yoane Wissa.

The 28-year-old is expected to undergo his medical on Monday. Wissa had publicly expressed his desire for a new challenge earlier this summer, stating on Instagram that the club had promised not to block a move for a reasonable fee.

This signing represents the second major attacking acquisition for Newcastle in two days, following the arrival of German international Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for a reported €90 million.

The club has effectively reinvested the entire sum received from Isak’s departure in a clear statement of intent to remain competitive.

The rapid-fire deals highlight the intense activity on the Premier League’s transfer deadline day, with the English top flight continuing to break its own spending records in a summer of unprecedented financial movement.
