Togo expands electricity access with Major grid Project in central region

The Togolese government has launched a significant initiative to improve electricity access, particularly in the country’s interior regions. The Urban Center Electrical Grid Extension Project (PERECUT) is now underway in the Central Region, reflecting the state’s commitment to universal energy coverage.

The project will strengthen electrical infrastructure in localities such as Blitta, Sokodé, Tchamba, and Sotouboua.

It includes the construction of over 290 km of low-voltage lines, 21 km of medium-voltage networks, and the installation of 36 transformer stations. These upgrades will provide reliable electricity to thousands of households.

PERECUT is part of a broader national effort to install more than 1,600 km of grid lines and 371 transformers across Togo.

Supported by international partners, the initiative underscores the country’s determined push toward sustainable development.

By aiming for universal electricity access by 2030, the Togolese government is prioritizing both social well-being and local economic growth, ensuring that communities are empowered through improved infrastructure.
