Premier League/ Mohamed Salah makes history with third PFA Player of the year award

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has made football history by winning the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year award for a record third time. The Egyptian king, previously honoured in 2018 and 2022, surpassed two-time winners like Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry to claim the 2025 title.
Salah was selected by his peers from a prestigious shortlist that included teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and Arsenal’s Declan Rice.
The 33-year-old was recognised after a stellar season where his 29 goals propelled Liverpool to the Premier League title.
In an emotional acceptance speech in Manchester, Mohamed Salah reflected on his journey: “A guy coming from Egypt and making it to the top level, making history today it’s something that makes me so proud.”
The award comes during a period of transition at Anfield. When asked if the current squad is stronger than last season’s champions, Salah offered a measured response, acknowledging the impact of new signings and the tragic loss of teammate Diogo Jota.
He emphasised the importance of experienced players like Virgil van Dijk guiding new recruits through the immense pressure of representing Liverpool.
Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers was named Young Player of the Year, while Liverpool dominated the Team of the Year with four inclusions.
