A key announcement from the tour revealed that all standard passports issued in Burkina Faso now feature Advanced Electronic Security (AES) technology.

This upgrade marks a major step in strengthening regional integration and sovereignty among member states of the Alliance of Sahel States.

The move enhances the credibility of Burkinabe travel documents internationally while reinforcing unity among partner nations.

ONI Director General Parfait LOURE reported strong public demand for the new passports since their September 2024 rollout, with over 102,000 AES passports already issued averaging more than 700 per day.

To further streamline services, ONI plans to introduce an expedited enrollment system, reducing processing times from the current 10-day maximum.

This initiative aims to address urgent citizen needs while boosting trust in public administration efficiency.
