Niger: COLDEFF, more than 63 billion recovered, the President denies rumours that files have disappeared

The President of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (COLDEFF), Colonel Zennou Aghali Moussa, was received in audience on 16 August 2025 by the President of the Republic, Army General Abdourahamane Tiani. The meeting took place in the presence of members of the National Council for the safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP).
During the meeting, Colonel Aghali Moussa presented an overview of COLDEFF’s activities.
As at 16 August 2025, a total of 63,808,497,269 CFA francs had been recovered in cash, in addition to more than 5 billion in kind.
He praised the rigorous work of the commission’s teams, saying that these results were the fruit of an unwavering commitment to combating financial crime.
Reacting to rumours concerning the alleged disappearance of certain files from the institution’s premises, the Chairman of COLDEFF firmly rejected these accusations, describing them as “pure intoxication bordering on the ridiculous”.
“We didn’t want to get into that debate, but I invite you to visit our facilities to see the level of security in place”, he said, clearly annoyed by the persistence of these rumours.
With regard to the management of suspects’ files, Colonel Aghali Moussa pointed out that COLDEFF is an institution governed by clear regulations. “We cannot expose suspects publicly, because our oath commits us to respect their dignity, even after our mission is over”, he concluded.
