Manchester United launch €85m bid for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško

Manchester United have submitted a formal offer worth up to €85m (£73.8m) for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško, signaling their intent to revamp their attacking options under new leadership. The proposed deal includes a guaranteed €75m (£65.2m), with the remaining €10m in potential add-ons.
The 22-year-old Slovenian international, who scored 18 goals last season, is understood to be open to the move despite competition from Newcastle United, who have also made an unsuccessful approach.
United’s willingness to let Rasmus Højlund leave suggests a strategic shift in their forward line.
The bid comes amid financial scrutiny at Old Trafford, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe previously warning of potential cash flow issues.
However, favorable payment structures for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, along with savings from Marcus Rashford’s loan to Barcelona and sell-on clauses for fringe players, have provided flexibility.
Šeško’s physicality (6’5”) and Bundesliga pedigree make him a prime target as United seek a clinical finisher.
Leipzig have yet to respond, but United believe their valuation reflects the striker’s rising profile.
