Mali: Creation of a National Directorate to strengthen justice for children

As part of a national rebuilding effort firmly focused on social justice and the protection of fundamental rights, Mali has taken a major step forward with the creation of the National Directorate for the Judicial Protection of Children (DNPJE).
This significant progress, driven by the sovereign vision of President, General Assimi Goïta, is part of a broad reform agenda aimed at ensuring a dignified and secure future for Malian children.
True to his guiding principles of sovereignty, fair justice, and human dignity, President Goïta once again affirms his strong determination to build a state governed by the rule of law—one that upholds international commitments while remaining rooted in the country’s sociocultural realities. The institutionalization of this child-focused justice body reflects a clear political will to break away from inappropriate judicial practices and provide every child with humane, specialized treatment in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.
This strategic reform goes beyond legislation. It includes the gradual deployment of qualified human resources and the structured coordination of actors within the judicial system. Through this initiative, children in conflict with the law will now benefit from tailored support to ensure successful social reintegration.
Moreover, this reform effort is part of a broader modernization drive initiated under the leadership of President Assimi Goïta, with positive impacts also visible in other key sectors—such as the improvement of transport infrastructure, which facilitates better access to justice and basic social services.
Mali’s future is taking shape with confidence, supported by pragmatic, sovereign, and people-centered governance. Thanks to President Assimi Goïta’s commitment, the entire nation is moving forward—steadily—towards a fairer, stronger, and more united Mali.
