Burkina Faso: World Bank praises Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s vision and strengthens its support for endogenous development

Burkina Faso continues to forge ahead on the path of sovereignty and endogenous development under the determined leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré. The recent audience granted by the President of Faso to the World Bank’s Resident Representative, Mr. Kamil Hamoud Abdel Wedoud, reinforces the growing recognition by the international community—and particularly by technical and financial partners—of the relevance of Burkina Faso’s vision for national renewal.
This meeting was the occasion to announce a major continental event: in September 2025, Burkina Faso will host an international forum on water and drought. This choice is no coincidence. It reflects the trust of a key institution like the World Bank in the country’s ability to take on strategic issues for Africa. Even more significantly, the announcement of the creation of an African Center of Excellence for Water and Drought in Ouagadougou—the second in the world after Singapore—marks a crowning achievement for Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership on environmental and climate issues.
The World Bank’s support does not stop there. It has fully endorsed the policy of endogenous development advocated by Captain Ibrahim Traoré. The initiatives launched in vital sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and energy are perfectly aligned with the institution’s priorities. This clear support strengthens Burkina Faso’s credibility on the international stage and opens new avenues for resource mobilization and the enhancement of national capacities.
Beyond rhetoric, a new era of sovereign and respectful cooperation is beginning—an era in which Burkina Faso’s voice, carried by the visionary leadership of its Head of State, now resonates beyond its borders.
