Togo: H.E. Faure Gnassingbé personally oversees progress at Kara University Hospital

The rehabilitation work on the Kara University Hospital Center (CHU) is progressing steadily, with a completion rate estimated at 35% by the end of June 2025. This project, listed among the flagship initiatives of the government’s “Togo 2025” Roadmap, holds major significance for the healthcare system in the northern part of the country.
On Monday, July 21, the President of the Council, Faure Gnassingbé, personally visited the site to assess the progress of the work. This highly symbolic field visit reflects the Head of State’s commitment to closely monitor the effective implementation of government pledges.
On site, Faure Gnassingbé spoke with the project contractors. He emphasized the need to meet deadlines and adhere to quality standards, as the population is expecting real improvements in access to healthcare. This hands-on approach highlights the President’s demand for strict oversight of key infrastructure projects.
A few weeks earlier, the Minister of Health had carried out a similar visit. This regular monitoring underlines the strategic importance given to this health project. The goal is to provide the Kara region with modern facilities capable of meeting the growing public health needs.
Through this rehabilitation effort, the objective is clear: to strengthen the capacity of Kara’s CHU, improve patient care, and ensure fair access to healthcare throughout the national territory. The Togolese government is committed to building a modern, accessible, and sustainable healthcare system.
