Togo: Schools rehabilitated and made safe in preparation for the start of the 2025-2026 school year

The Togolese government has launched an ambitious program to modernize and rehabilitate school infrastructure ahead of the 2025–2026 academic year. This nationwide project targets 23 schools across the country’s seven regions, with a clear objective: to provide students and teachers with modern, safe, and well-equipped learning environments that meet the country’s growing demographic needs.

In line with the priorities set out in the national development roadmap, the renovation and construction efforts focus on several key areas. The planned projects include the construction of modern classrooms, the renovation of existing facilities, and the building of perimeter walls to strengthen school security. Additionally, libraries and office spaces for teaching and administrative staff will be added to create an environment conducive to both learning and effective school management.

Notable schools in the Greater Lomé area, as well as institutions in more remote regions, will benefit from these upgrades. The project also includes the renovation of the administrative floor of the Regional Directorate of Education in the Savanes region, highlighting the government’s focus on both education quality and local sector governance.

This program reflects a long-term vision to transform education into a driver of sustainable development. Through these reforms, the government aims not only to address current needs but also to anticipate future challenges. The improvements are expected to directly impact the quality of teaching by providing students with a safe, modern, and engaging learning environment.

Through this initiative, Togo positions itself as a model for educational progress in Africa. The country demonstrates its firm belief that investing in school infrastructure is key to securing a brighter future for the younger generation. With such an educational policy, Togo moves closer to building a school system that drives national development and embodies hope for the entire nation.
