Burkina Faso shines at AES games with Kung-Fu Wushu dominance

Burkina Faso made a spectacular debut at the inaugural Sahel States Alliance (AES) Games on Sunday, claiming five medals in Kung-Fu Wushu: one gold, three silver, and one bronze.
The star of the day, SIMPORE Rîîm Vanessa, delivered an outstanding performance in the women’s senior category, securing gold in Dao Shu and silver medals in Chang Quan and Gun Shu.
Meanwhile, SANA Ladifata (women’s senior -65kg) earned silver in Sanda, and ILBOUDO K. Yannick Jaurès clinched bronze in the men’s -65kg combat event.
This triumphant start highlights the athletes’ dedication, expert coaching, and strong team spirit, backed by Burkina Faso’s national sports federations.
As the Games continue on Monday, June 23, attention shifts to the men’s Kung-Fu Wushu technical events and the highly anticipated U17 football clash between Burkina Faso’s Étalons and Niger’s Mena at 4:30 PM UTC in Mamadou Konaté Stadium.
