Burkina Faso: Full-scale multirisk National Plan simulation exercise launched in Dédougou

The State Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, Mr. Emile ZERBO, and the Minister of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, Commander Passowendé Pélagie KABORÉ, presided over the launch of a full-scale simulation exercise of the National Multirisk Plan in Dédougou.
The primary objective of this simulation was to test national disaster and humanitarian crisis response mechanisms while strengthening intersectoral coordination among government agencies, humanitarian actors, and local communities.
The exercise also aimed to raise public awareness on proper emergency response procedures.
Mr. Emile ZERBO commended the National Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Council (CONASUR) for its well-structured preparedness measures and organizational efficiency during the exercise.
He also praised the dedication of humanitarian workers, defense and security forces, local authorities, and communities for their exemplary commitment.
Addressing Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the State Minister reassured them of the full support of the Burkinabe government, which is working tirelessly to ensure their safe, dignified, and peaceful return to their places of origin.
Minister Passowendé Pélagie KABORÉ emphasized the strategic significance of the exercise, describing it as a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to effectively anticipating and managing multiple shocks facing the country, including insecurity, population displacement, floods, droughts, and pandemics.
“This exercise is not just a technical drill. It reflects the government’s collective determination to better anticipate crises, improve coordination, and enhance the protection of our population,” stated the Minister of Humanitarian Action.
Since 2013, the Burkinabe government, through CONASUR, has prioritized proactive planning in its emergency management framework, leading to the development of contingency plans at all levels national, regional, provincial, and municipal.
The success of this exercise was made possible through the sustained support of the HYDROMET Project and the NGO Action Against Hunger (ACF).
On the sidelines of the event, the government delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Massa of Dédougou, seeking his blessings and prayers for a successful stay in the region.
