PSG eyes american-style mega stadium in Paris suburbs

Frustrated by Paris City Hall’s refusal to sell the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain is exploring bold plans to build a cutting-edge stadium in the Île-de-France region, inspired by Los Angeles’ revolutionary SoFi Stadium.

The club, eager to boost revenue through premium hospitality and major events, has launched a year-long feasibility study for sites in Poissy or Massy.

The envisioned venue potentially costing $5 billion would dwarf the 48,000-seat Parc des Princes, incorporating retractable roofs, giant 4K screens, and multifunctional spaces for sports and entertainment.

PSG CEO Victoriano Melero confirmed ambitions to replicate the SoFi model: “It’s not just a stadium it’s an entertainment hub.”

The Los Angeles landmark, host to NFL games and Taylor Swift concerts, features 70,000 expandable seats and eco-friendly design.

With Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo blocking stadium ownership talks, PSG’s suburban pivot could redefine French football infrastructure if local governments and financing align. A decision is expected post-study in 2026.
