Football/ Business: Getafe CF could join Fenway Sports Group’s Football Empire

Getafe CF may soon become the latest addition to Fenway Sports Group’s (FSG) growing sports portfolio. The American investment giant, which owns Liverpool FC, the Boston Red Sox, and the Pittsburgh Penguins, has reportedly set its sights on the La Liga club as part of its European expansion strategy.

Sources indicate preliminary discussions have taken place between FSG and Getafe, though no formal offer has been made.

The club’s appeal lies in its stable top-flight status, ongoing construction of the new Coliseum Alfonso Pérez stadium, and its strategic location near Madrid.

Current president Ángel Torres, who has repeatedly expressed his intention to step down by 2027, sees FSG as a potential successor to ensure long-term growth.

FSG’s interest aligns with its ambition to strengthen its football investments beyond Liverpool.

While talks remain exploratory, a deal could integrate Getafe into one of the world’s most powerful sports networks. For now, all eyes are on the stadium’s progress, which may determine the club’s future ownership.
