Burkina Faso unveils ambitious youth empowerment programs

Ouagadougou, June 13, 2025 – In a significant move to tackle youth unemployment, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo inaugurated two flagship initiatives today: a nationwide vocational training program for 10,000 young Burkinabe and the comprehensive rehabilitation of Youth Counseling and Dialogue Centers across the country.

The vocational program represents a substantial investment in Burkina Faso’s future workforce, offering participants not just professional immersion but also a monthly stipend of 25,000 CFA francs to ensure accessibility for all socioeconomic backgrounds.

Prime Minister Ouédraogo emphasized the transformative potential of this opportunity during his address, urging beneficiaries to approach their training with discipline and commitment that would shape their professional futures and the program’s long-term success.

Complementing the skills development initiative, the revitalized counseling centers will serve as community hubs providing psychological support and career guidance.

These facilities aim to address the holistic needs of young people navigating complex life decisions while fostering social cohesion.

Together, these programs form a dual approach to youth empowerment – equipping participants with practical job skills while supporting their personal development.

The government’s substantial investment underscores its recognition of youth as central to national progress and stability.

The launch ceremony highlighted Burkina Faso’s proactive strategy to convert its demographic potential into economic strength, with the Prime Minister noting these initiatives would be regularly evaluated for impact and potential expansion.
