Football/ Poland in crisis: Manager Probierz resigns after Lewandowski steps back

Poland’s national team has been thrown into chaos after manager Michal Probierz resigned on Wednesday just two days after star striker Robert Lewandowski announced he would step away from international duty.
The Barcelona forward had clashed with Probierz after skipping last month’s squad call-up to focus on his club form.
In a statement on X, the 52-year-old coach said: “I’ve concluded that, given the current situation, resigning is the best decision for the national team. This role was the fulfillment of my professional dreams.”
Probierz, who took charge in September 2023, leaves Poland in turmoil ahead of their next fixtures.
With their captain temporarily gone and no manager, the Polish FA faces a race against time to stabilize the squad before competitive football resumes.
