Malian army intensifies counterterrorism offensive with decisive victories

In recent days, Mali’s Armed Forces (FAMA) have demonstrated growing operational effectiveness against terrorist groups, scoring significant victories in coordinated ground and air operations.
Two major successes highlight this strengthened counterterrorism push:
- In Mahou(Yorosso district), FAMA repelled a large-scale attack, neutralizing 25 terrorists while wounding 15 others who fled. Troops captured substantial weaponry in the operation.
- The Tessitoperation (Gao region) proved even more decisive, eliminating 41 militants including Nigerian faction leader Mamoudou Akilou and four of his lieutenants.
Military analysts note improved tactical coordination between aerial strikes and ground forces, reflecting FAMA’s enhanced capabilities.
The Army High Command praised troops’ bravery while reaffirming its commitment to restoring nationwide security.
These back-to-back victories signal Mali’s accelerating momentum in reclaiming territory from insurgents.
As terrorist threats persist, the military’s increasingly robust responses underscore a strategic shift toward sustained offensive operations rather than reactive defense.
