Tottenham ends 17-year trophy drought with Gritty Europa League victory over Manchester United

In a tense, physical battle more reminiscent of a European final than a technical showcase, Tottenham Hotspur edged Manchester United 1-0 to claim their first trophy since 2008 their third Europa League title in history.

Brennan Johnson’s first-half strike proved decisive, as Spurs weathered relentless late pressure from a desperate United side.

The Red Devils, already bruised from a turbulent Premier League campaign, threw everything forward in the closing stages Alejandro Garnacho’s introduction sparking danger, while Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw came agonizingly close.

But Tottenham’s defense, marshaled by the superb Micky van de Ven, held firm.

Missing key players like James Maddison, Spurs relied on grit rather than flair, with Richarlison and Dominic Solanke leading a makeshift attack.

For United, Rasmus Højlund struggled to make an impact, summing up their frustrating night.

As the final whistle blew, Tottenham’s players erupted in celebration ending a 17-year wait for silverware and adding a fourth European trophy to their cabinet.

For Manchester United, another season ends in what-ifs. For Spurs? Pure, hard-earned glory.
