Togo: The UNIR Party sharpens its weapons for the upcoming legislative and regional elections

The ruling party (UNIR) is already gearing up for the 2024 legislative and regional elections in Togo, leaving no room for complacency.

Party officials initiated a day of reflection and exchange among members in the central region on January 20th.

Themed «Together, Affirming Our Commitment to President Faure’s Mediation, Dialogue, Security, and Peace Policies», this day is part of the preparations for the upcoming legislative and regional elections.

The objective is to strengthen the commitment of party members to the party’s ideals, renewing their loyalty to President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé and his policies of mediation, dialogue, security, and peace in Togo and the sub-region.

For the organizers of this meeting, the loyalty and fidelity of party members should translate into their strong mobilization for the victory of their candidates in the upcoming elections.

This is seen as crucial to allowing the president to continue the country’s reconstruction in peace, security, and social cohesion.

During this day, three presentations were given by experts. The first focused on «discipline, a guarantee of cohesion within a political party», the second addressed «the dual legislative and regional election, scope and challenges», and the third centered on security.

Afoh Atcha Dédji, the party’s vice-president in charge of the region and the Minister of Road, Air, and Rail Transport, urged members to passionately defend the significant achievements in the development policy and effective diplomacy of President Faure Gnassingbé for the party’s victory in the upcoming elections.

The exchange day received praise from members who already pledged their mobilization, expressing readiness to work for the victory of their party’s candidates.

In a January 12th statement, it was announced that candidacies are open at the party’s headquarters until midnight on January 25, 2024, for those wishing to participate in the electoral competition.

As the UNIR party is already the majority in the national assembly, it aims to confirm its supremacy over other parties, making ongoing mobilization crucial.
