TOGO / Creation of TIN and online Payment of TVM: OTR Scores a crucial point
The creation of the Tax Identification Number (TIN) and the payment of the Motor Vehicle Tax (TVM) are now possible online in Togo. The two platforms dedicated to these operations were launched on Monday by Philippe Kokou Tchodie, the Commissioner General of the OTR (Togolese Revenue Office).
The new tools from OTR aim to significantly save time for users, allowing them to complete procedures more quickly and securely from their homes.
By implementing this reform, OTR aims to get closer to the population and modernize its services in tax administration.
The new platform for individual tax registration is «https://nif.otr.tg», and the TVM payment platform in Togo is «OTR TVM».
«The TIN creation platform has been designed to simplify and expedite the registration process for anyone likely to use a tax identification number in their dealings with the administration. With this platform, individuals can now complete all the steps related to their tax registration online, without having to physically visit our offices», explained Philippe Kokou Tchodie, Commissioner General of OTR.
Online OTR Services Initially, the platform will be open to Togolese residents and those from the diaspora, holding a valid National Identity Card (CNI) or Togolese passport.
TINs become practical and indispensable as they provide access to several formalities, particularly personal property consumption formalities, as well as the land registration of properties in land registries.
They also facilitate the payment of personal taxes, rights, and taxes, including Property Tax (TH), Land Tax (TF), Motor Vehicle Tax (TVM), and Personal Income Tax (IRPP).
The platform also takes into account the security of TVM declaration and collection operations. «We have just developed a mobile and web application, namely OTR TVM. With this innovation, TVM debtors can now, in a few clicks, fulfill their civic duty wherever they are, without having to go to a counter», explained Bekeyi Sogoyou, Chief of the Registration Division at OTR.
The application allows payment of TVM for an unlimited number of vehicles, simply by entering the vehicle’s registration number. It will be available from January 2, 2024.
