Burkina Faso: Is France seeking to destabilise the economy of the Land of honest people?

After Mali, France is said to have turned its attention to Burkina Faso in an attempt to destabilise its national economy, reminiscent of similar manoeuvres undertaken against Guinea under the reign of Sékou Touré.

Recently, the gendarmerie in Burkina Faso pulled off a masterstroke by dismantling a network manufacturing counterfeit notes worth a colossal sum of more than 7 billion CFA francs.

This success is the result of increased vigilance and efficiency on the part of Burkina Faso’s intelligence services, which are now at an advanced stage, making any attempt at destabilisation difficult.

According to reports, this network of counterfeiters is equipped and supported by French agents.

As in Guinea under Sékou Touré, where France used devious means to undermine the economy and undermine the authority of the government, it would appear that similar strategies are at play in Burkina Faso.

Burkina Faso, under the presidency of Captain Ibrahim Traoré and with the support of its intelligence services, has demonstrated a remarkable ability to counter these attempts at destabilisation.

Unlike the days of Sékou Touré in Guinea, when external manipulation succeeded in stirring up trouble, Burkina Faso today is better prepared and more resilient in the face of such threats.
