Burkina Faso: Focus on the meeting between President Ibrahim Traoré and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland

Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Transition and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, convened a meeting with the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), facilitating candid exchanges and highlighting the commitment and sacrifice of these citizen soldiers.

At the outset of the gathering, Captain Traoré paid a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have chosen to take up arms alongside the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) to defend Burkina Faso.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by many VDP members, some paying with their lives for the national cause.

«Many of you have paid with your lives. Yet, you continue to resist. I salute you», declared the Head of State, expressing deep gratitude to these defenders of the homeland.

The Transition President emphasized the crucial nature of the ongoing conflict, describing it as a true war of independence.

He stressed the importance of total commitment to free oneself from any form of domination.

«This war is to free us from slavery. Either we accept to fight, or we remain slaves», affirmed Ibrahim Traoré, urging the VDP to mobilize unwaveringly to liberate the ancestral territory.

Captain Ibrahim  Traoré urged the VDP to remain vigilant at all times and to continue their struggle with determination, regardless of the conditions.

«Do not sleep. Whether it rains or storms, we must fight the enemies of the Nation. It’s merciless», he emphasized, underscoring the need for relentless resistance against enemy forces.
