Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn tackle Feline co-Stars in “A Quiet Place: Day One”

In the horror prequel “A Quiet Place: Day One,” actors Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn faced the challenge of working with feline co-stars, despite their initial reluctance towards cats.

Nyong’o, who was originally afraid of cats, nearly declined the role but accepted after a conversation with director Michael Sarnoski, who insisted the cat character was essential.

Nyong’o underwent “cat therapy” to overcome her fear, eventually becoming comfortable enough to work with the cats on set.

Quinn, while not a cat enthusiast, approached the experience with an open mind and found it surprisingly bonding.

Two cats, Nico and Schnitzel, were used during filming, and while the actors had a clear favorite, they remained discreet about their preference.

Nyong’o emphasized the unique challenge of acting with cats, noting that the unpredictability of the animals required her to stay present and react spontaneously, as the cats did not follow a script.

A Quiet Place: Day One” revisits the early days of an alien invasion, focusing on how humans adapt to survive.

Nyong’o plays Sam, a New Yorker on the run, who finds new allies in Eric (Quinn), Reuben (Alex Wolff), and Henri (Djimon Hounsou).

The film, a prequel to the 2018 box office hit, delves into the initial chaos and survival strategies during the alien attack.
