Burkina: The president of the Transitional Legislative Assembly takes the pulse of the field.

In Burkina, a delegation of about ten MPs, led by the President of the Transitional Legislative Assembly Dr. Ousmane Bougouma, visited Arbinda on Tuesday 13 December. The objective of this visit was to encourage the defence and security forces (FDS) of the mixed detachment as well as the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) of this locality.

During this visit, the President of the Burkinabe Parliament had a meeting with the military command, the men of the detachment and the VDP.

After observing a minute’s silence in memory of the fallen soldiers, the head of the Burkinabe Parliament acknowledged and saluted the sacrifice of these men engaged on the front line.

He also listened to and noted their concerns and grievances, in particular the lack of logistical means to improve their living and working conditions, as well as the supply of food to the population.

For President Bougouma, the new authorities have made the fight against terrorism their main objective, which is why he reassured them that something will be done to find solutions.

This type of visit is warming up the morale of the troops on the ground at a time when the recruitment of the VDP is taking a decisive step.

It shows the interest that the President of the transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has in the FDS and VDP in general.

It is clear that no foreign force is better able to defend the national territory than the Burkinabè themselves.

In this sense, in the efforts to reconquer the territory, the morale of the fighters of the fatherland also needs encouragement and support to galvanise itself.
