Togo: President Faure Gnassingbé paves the way for progress with the programme to open up and develop rural tracks

As part of an ambitious vision for Togo’s development, President Faure Gnassingbé has undertaken concrete actions to connect the country’s regions through a program aimed at improving rural roads and reducing isolation. A major project at the heart of this initiative is the imminent construction of 21 bridges spanning across all regions, a significant step towards a more accessible and interconnected Togo.

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Rural Roads and Development, the project recently reached a crucial milestone with the definition of the bridge structures.

During the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, November 24, Kanfitine Issa Tchede announced that these bridges will be of the uni-bridge type, constructed using mixed modular steel-concrete materials.

This strategic decision reflects the government’s commitment to implementing sustainable and resilient solutions to ensure the longevity of these infrastructures.

Once built, these bridges will play a transformative role in the lives of rural populations. By facilitating access to basic socio-economic services, they will pave the way for new opportunities for inhabitants in remote regions.

Moreover, these new connections will ease the transportation of agricultural products, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the local economy.

The significance of this project cannot be underestimated, as it goes beyond the mere construction of bridges.

It represents an investment in Togo’s future, aiming to reduce regional disparities, promote sustainable development, and enhance social cohesion.

The rural roads development program, coupled with the imminent construction of these 21 bridges, embodies President Faure Gnassingbé’s progressive vision for a connected, prosperous, and equitable Togo.

These bridges are not just physical structures; they are tangible symbols of the government’s commitment to a better future for all Togolese communities.
