Togo: Florence Kouigan at the helm of the Togolese delegation to the Extraordinary General Assembly of the WAEMU’s Council of territorial community

A Togolese delegation, led by Florence Kouigan, Mayor of Atakpamé and President of the Federation of Togolese Municipalities, is currently on a mission in Abidjan for the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Council of Territorial Communities (CCT) of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). This meeting, which began on Monday, brings together representatives from all territorial communities in the sub-region to discuss crucial matters related to local governance.

The Togolese delegation is composed of members of the Federation of Togolese Municipalities, which represents the country’s 117 municipalities.

Florence Kouigan, as the President of the Federation, brings considerable expertise to the table given her extensive experience in municipal management.

One of the key points of this general assembly is the renewal of CCT’s leadership. Delegates will examine and elect new members to lead this important regional organization.

The CCT plays a vital role in promoting cooperation and development among territorial communities within UEMOA, facilitating the exchange of best practices and coordinating efforts to address the common challenges faced by local communities in the region.

In addition to the leadership renewal, delegates will also review the past activities of the CCT.

This will be an opportune moment to assess the organization’s achievements and identify areas requiring special attention in the future.
