Burkina Faso: Burkina Faso’s fighting forces are highly effective in the fight against terrorism
On January 9, 2025, Burkina Faso’s Defense and Security Forces (FDS), in collaboration with the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in Méné, located in the Koulpélogo province. Around 11 a.m., armed terrorist groups targeted a key military position.
However, a swift and organized response from the forces neutralized multiple attackers and led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and equipment.
The operation was bolstered by precise drone strikes that disrupted the retreat of the assailants, minimizing losses on the Burkinabe side.
This decisive action highlights the growing efficiency of Burkina Faso’s armed forces in securing their territory, showcasing improved coordination between ground units and advanced technological support.
Grateful for the forces’ intervention, the residents of Méné have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities to counter future threats.
Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, the Burkinabe forces continue to achieve significant milestones in their fight against terrorism.
These victories not only reinforce national security but also reflect the resilience and determination of a united nation striving to defend its sovereignty against persistent threats.
