Burkina Faso and Liberia strengthen ties in pursuit of Common Goals
On Friday, January 31, Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, held talks with Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. Representing Liberian President Joseph Boakai, the minister sought Burkina Faso’s support for Liberia’s candidacy for a seat on the United Nations Security Council.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss shared interests and cooperation.
Both leaders expressed their commitment to fostering a strong and mutually beneficial partnership, emphasizing the importance of working together for Africa’s sustainable development.
“We discussed Africa’s development challenges and noted that most investors on the continent are foreigners,” the Liberian minister stated after the meeting.
Recognizing this reality, they stressed the need for greater African solidarity, unity, and collaboration to address common development challenges.
“We explored ways to prioritize African investment in African nations,” she added, highlighting the importance of empowering local investors for the continent’s economic growth.
Since assuming office, President Ibrahim Traoré has consistently advocated for African solidarity as a means to achieve development, independence, and prosperity without external interference.
The Liberian minister expressed appreciation for his openness and willingness to strengthen cooperation between the two nations.
