Barça’s dominance continues: A resounding Victory Over Betis in Copa del Rey

Fresh off their emphatic 5-2 victory against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final, FC Barcelona returned to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys to face Real Betis in the Copa del Rey Round of 16.

Despite a demanding journey from Saudi Arabia, coach Hansi Flick fielded a strong lineup, blending key players like Jules Koundé, Pedri, and Gavi with rotated options such as Dani Olmo and Frenkie de Jong.

Barcelona wasted no time asserting their dominance. Just three minutes in, Gavi struck the opener, calmly finishing a pass from Olmo.

The Catalan side’s relentless pressure paid off again in the 27th minute when Koundé thundered a volley into the net after a brilliant setup by the electrifying Lamine Yamal.

Although a second goal for Koundé was ruled offside, Barça’s control was never in doubt.

The second half showcased more of Yamal’s brilliance. The 17-year-old prodigy played a key role in Raphinha’s goal and later sealed his standout performance with a clinical finish, validated by VAR after an initial offside call.

Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres added further to the scoreline, with the latter benefiting from Olmo’s second assist of the evening.

Though former Barça player Vitor Roque converted a late penalty for Betis, the 5-1 scoreline underscored Barcelona’s dominance.

With this victory, the Blaugrana advance to the quarterfinals, reaffirming their position as one of Spain’s most formidable sides this season.
