Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré reiterates commitment to combat imperialism
During the year’s inaugural flag-raising ceremony at the Koulouba Palace, President Ibrahim Traoré delivered a resolute message emphasizing the need to dismantle imperialist structures, particularly those rooted in French dominance.
He urged the institution’s staff to incorporate this fight into their daily lives, asserting that the struggle against imperialism must remain relentless and unwavering.
In his speech, Traoré highlighted France’s strategic maneuvers to sustain its influence in Africa through covert means, such as private security firms and military advisors.
He condemned these practices as modern forms of colonialism, urging vigilance and resistance against them.
The president stressed the importance of breaking away from colonial defense agreements, which he described as key instruments of prolonged foreign control.
Burkina Faso, having expelled French military advisors, has set an example of resistance and independence, Traoré noted.
Responding to French President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks labeling some Africans as ungrateful, Traoré firmly reminded the international community of Africa’s historical contributions to France’s prosperity.
He called for a collective rejection of the lingering colonial mindset and a commitment to fostering true self-reliance.
Through this impassioned address, President Traoré underscored his vision for an Africa that is independent, united, and focused on the welfare of its people, free from the remnants of foreign domination.
