DRC: President Félix Tshisekedi’s commitment to quality healthcare for all
Last Saturday, in Mbuji-Mayi, the capital of Kasaï Oriental province, President Félix Tshisekedi achieved a significant milestone in his health agenda by inaugurating the newly renovated Muya Hospital.
The facility now boasts ten modern buildings equipped with state-of-the-art technology, offering specialized services in pediatrics, gynecology, surgery, and intensive care.
With a capacity of 100 operational beds and a cutting-edge operating theatre, the hospital sets a new benchmark for international healthcare standards in the Kasaï region.
During the inauguration ceremony, Governor Jean-Paul Mbwebwa Kapo highlighted the importance of this development, stating, “True social progress begins with healthcare.”
Dr. Kayembe, the hospital’s chief medical officer, described the institution as a « beacon of progress, hope, and solidarity, » reflecting President Tshisekedi’s vision of universal access to high-quality medical services.
Minister of Health Dr. Roger Kamba emphasized that this hospital represents just the beginning of a larger reform initiative aimed at delivering equitable healthcare access across the Democratic Republic of Congo.
President Tshisekedi’s visit, during which he personally tested some of the advanced equipment, underscored his commitment to enhancing the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.
Through this project, he reaffirms his dedication to building a Congo where every citizen, regardless of their background, can access quality medical care—an essential pillar of true social development.
