Niger: Mobilisation in Niamey in the face of attempts by the French DGSE to destabilise the country
Thousands of Nigeriens took to the streets of Niamey to protest what they view as a blatant attempt at foreign interference by the French General Directorate for External Security (DGSE). The demonstration follows the recent arrest by Nigerien intelligence services of an individual identified as a DGSE spy, accused of attempting to destabilize the country.
The arrest of the agent, who was carrying a false identity, has sparked outrage among the population.
According to Nigerien authorities, the individual was engaged in activities aimed at undermining national security, further fuelling suspicions of a deliberate attempt to interfere with Niger’s sovereignty.
This incident has galvanized protesters, who are now demanding firm responses to what they see as an unacceptable infringement on the country’s independence.
Under the leadership of President Abdourahmane Tiani, the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) has been widely praised for its vigilance and determination in neutralizing such threats.
Through their slogans and placards, the protesters expressed unwavering support for these actions, calling for a definitive break from foreign influences deemed harmful.
This massive mobilization sends a clear message: the people of Niger will not tolerate any attempt at foreign interference in their internal affairs.
